Biden and Trump to Meet for June, September Debates

The earliest presidential debate in televised history will take place on June 27 on CNN, a press release from the outlet on May 15 confirmed. The announcement came hours after former President Donald Trump accepted an invitation from President Joe Biden earlier in the day for two debates in June and September. President Trump added he would also accept an ABC News debate against President Biden on Sept. 10. Shortly after, President Biden posted on X that he also accepted this debate. The Trump camp wants two more in addition.

Democrats are now praying Trump will be convicted. Then they can create ads labeling Trump a “convicted felon” and hope that at least a few Trump voters will abandon the former president. Maybe that will happen. But Biden’s position is becoming quite serious. Sean Trende wrote recently, “The political science literature is pretty consistent that this is the time when the electorate’s views about the election start to harden, particularly with respect to the economy.” The president’s situation looks more difficult every day.

When the Democrats insult you with references to “our democracy,” bear in mind that this bastardized sham of the franchise is what they’re referring to. Could Manhattan court acquit Trump?

With 48% of registered voters telling Reuters-Ipsos last month that Donald Trump’s Kafkaesque cases are “excessive and politically motivated” (41% disagree), even a Manhattan jury could scrap New York DA Alvin Bragg’s contraption. If just one juror agrees, this case will end with a hung jury. And if “lurid but legal” reflects the opinions of 12 of my fellow Manhattanites — who tend to be tough but fair — then former President Donald Trump will be acquitted on all 34 charges and go back where he belongs: the campaign trail.

Producer Inflation Makes Biggest Jump in a Year in Potential Warning Sign for Future Economy

A measure of wholesale inflation that tracks prices before they reach consumers surged to its fastest annual rate since April 2023, according to new data by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The producer price index (PPI) rose 0.5 percent in April, totaling a 2.2 percent annual rate, far higher than estimates that the index would rise 0.3 percent in the month. The report adds to fears that inflation is once again surging following the consumer price index jumping to 3.5 percent in March, up from 3.2 percent in February.

Her hearing schedule represents a broader spilling of bad blood between Cannon and the DOJ, when Cannon took the courageous step of appointing a special master, or third party, to vet the all of the evidence seized.
