Republican Introduces Bill Requiring Proof of Citizenship to Vote
Joseph Lord, The Epoch Times
Rep. Chip Roy has introduced a bill in the lower chamber of Congress that would ensure that illegal immigrants do not vote in federal elections, dubbed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act. The bill is being introduced with the support of House Speaker Mike Johnson, who vowed to bring up such a bill during an appearance with former President Donald Trump weeks ago. Although noncitizen voting in federal elections is already unlawful, past Supreme Court decisions limit states’ power to ensure that voters are citizens.
Stagflation: American Job Growth Predicted to Slow Down in 2024
Eric Lendrum, American Greatness
Predictions by a research group suggest that job growth will slow significantly while inflation remains high in the second half of 2024, leading to stagflation. As reported by the Daily Caller, the Conference Board Employment Trends Index declined to 111.25 in April, down from 112.16 in March; as the index trends down, so too, most likely, will job growth. The Conference Board’s report will only add to concerns about a weak economy, including low growth, high unemployment, and high inflation, which is known as “stagflation.”
Macklemore Shows Biden Between a Rock and a Hamas Place
Daniel J. Flynn, The American Spectator
Politically, Biden cannot condemn anti-Semitism without angering the pro-Palestinian contingent, and he cannot pressure Benjamin Netanyahu to ease off without angering partisans of Israel within his party. The president has handled this poorly. But even Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, and other presidents with considerably more skills could not have made lemonade from lemons here. And as an impotent and indecisive Biden cannot win over there in May, he increasingly looks as though he cannot win over here in November.
71% of Adults Want Disney to Return to Wholesome Programming…Dems and Wealthy, Not So Much
Craig Bannister, MRCTV.org
Nearly three-fourths of American adults want Disney to stop sexualizing its shows and “return to wholesome programming,” but Democrat supporters and the wealthy are less in favor of Disney removing LGBTQ+ sexual indoctrination from its content for kids, a new Rasmussen survey reveals. Fully 71% of adults agree that it’s not Disney’s place to preach sexuality to children, with more than half (53%) strongly agreeing. That’s more than three times the 22% who don’t think that Disney should clean up its act around kids.
Republican Party Files to Intervene in Pennsylvania Mail-In Ballot Case over Curing of Votes with No Security Sleeve
Tom Pappert, The Star News Network
The Republican National Committee (RNC) and Republican Party of Pennsylvania (PAGOP) have filed to intervene in a Butler County lawsuit brought by two voters who want to enable the curing of mail-in ballots returned to election officials without a security sleeve. According to the two voters' lawsuit, the voters later sought to cure their ballots but were instead allowed to cast provisional ballots that were ultimately not counted. They filed suit against the Butler County Board of Elections on April 29.
Conservative duo, under pressure from Trump, backs down from threat to oust House speaker
Alex Miller, Washington Times
Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Georgia Republican, and Thomas Massie, Kentucky Republican, held their second meeting in two days on Tuesday with Speaker Mike Johnson to try to resolve their complaints about his leadership, and specifically, their view that he has capitulated to Democrats on top conservative priorities. Ms. Greene, who spoke to former president Donald Trump on Sunday and top RNC officials last week about her bid to remove Mr. Johnson, softened her earlier threat to “absolutely” force the vote this week.
The DOJ's Doctored Crime Scene Photo of Mar-a-Lago Raid
Julie Kelly, Substack
New court filings in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s espionage and obstruction case against Trump and two co-defendants conclusively demonstrate that the government used the cover sheets to deceive the public as well as the court. The photo was a stunt, and one that adds more fuel to this dumpster-fire case. It is safe to assume Judge Cannon will not take these new revelations lightly--particularly since Bratt also had to admit in the same filing that he did not tell her the truth when she asked about the condition of the boxes.
