Unredactions Reveal Early White House Involvement in Trump Documents Case
Julie Kelly, RealClearInvestigations
Robert Hur, was subsequently named to investigate Biden’s retention of classified material, dating as far back as 1977. Although Hur reported that Biden had willfully retained state secrets in unsecured locations and illegally shared them with a ghostwriter, he concluded that Biden should not be prosecuted for these violations. A May 2024 trial date in Florida has been postponed in light of Trump’s other legal entanglements, which the former president has described as a partisan witch hunt to interfere in the 2024 election.

Biden’s education secretary defends biological males in girls’ bathrooms
Stephen Dinan, The Washington Times
Pressed by Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, Mississippi Republican, President Joe Biden's Education Secretary Miguel Cardona brushed aside concerns that biological girls might feel unsafe and lashed out at opponents of the new bathroom rules as “trying to create division.” Ms. Hyde-Smith kicked off the exchange Tuesday by saying the new rule flips Title IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 on its head by giving “biological male” students the ability to use girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms through transgender access policies.

Can The Current Universities Be Saved?
Victor Davis Hanson, American Greatness
Higher education's deterioration is a wake-up call for the country at large. It may not be all that unfortunate that much of higher education is going the way of malls, movie theaters, and CDs. The country needs far more skilled physical labor and less prolonged adolescence and debt. STEM courses, professional schools, and traditional campuses are better insulated from mediocrity and should survive. Otherwise, millions more starting adulthood at 18 debt-free and fewer encumbered, ignorant, and entitled at 25 -- not a bad thing.

Trump’s VP Pick Should Be Someone Who Has Never Admitted to Shooting a Puppy
Kurt Schlichter, Townhall
Trump cannot pick Noem. There is no way that we Republicans want to spend the next six months when we should be talking about how Biden is turning this country into a communist hellhole, fat commie campus mutants, and foreign policy humiliation, trying to articulate a defense of shooting puppies so that Kristi can live her dream of getting the hell out of South Dakota. As soon as the revelation that Noem shot a puppy came out, DeSantis and all his people’s Twitter timelines were filled with pictures of them cavorting with canines.

4 Radical Reforms to Shrink the Federal Budget
Stephen Moore, The Epoch Times
The members of Congress should be wearing T-shirts that read, “Stop us before we spend again!” I’d like to suggest some common-sense ideas; it’s time for citizens to impose a fiscal restraining order on Congress and the White House. 1. Presidential impoundment authority. The president, just like the CEO of a company, should have the power to suspend spending on programs if it is deemed unnecessary. 2. A super-majority vote requirement to raise taxes. 3. A millionaire subsidy elimination act. 4. The budget stamps solution.

Wind Energy Industry Produced Less Power in 2023, Despite Having Increased Total Generation Capacity
Just the News (Kevin Killough), The Star News Network
Total wind capacity in the U.S. has tripled from 47 gigawatts in 2010 to 147.5 gigawatts by the end of 2023. The wind energy industry managed to increase total generation capacity by 6.2 gigawatts in 2023, but the actual electricity generation decreased. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, wind farms in the U.S. generated a total of 425,235 gigawatt hours in 2023, which was 2.1 percent less than the industry generated in 2022. The nation’s wind energy capacity has tripled by the end of 2023.

April Showers Rain on Jack Smith's Lawfare Parade
Julie Kelly, Substack
What appears to be the likeliest outcome, rather than issue a clean opinion, w the court will kick the question back to either Chutkan or the appellate court (at least two justices including Chief Justice John Roberts were unimpressed with the appellate panel’s hasty decision) to identify which allegations in Smith’s indictment might represent “core functions” and which allegations fall under the category of personal or private conduct. That process will add at least a few months to a calendar already ticking down to the election.
