Defund Jack Smith. Then Investigate Him.
Julie Kelly, Substack
Smith is hiding as he awaits a key decision by the Supreme Court on the question of presidential immunity, which will determine whether his Jan 6 case can get to trial. But even worse for Smith is his imploding espionage and obstruction case in Florida. An increasingly toxic relationship with Judge Aileen Cannon, accusations of grand jury and prosecutorial abuse, and the government’s recent revelations that investigators mishandled and possibly misplaced key evidence threatens to launch Smith into the Fani Willis/Alvin Bragg category.

The Presidential Debate Saga Is Just Beginning
Daniel Oliver, American Greatness
Joe Biden’s terms for offering the debates were, of course, stacked for Biden—why are we not surprised? What was a bit surprising was that Trump accepted (for now) the terms. The most obviously disadvantageous term was that the moderator must be someone from the mainstream media. Quick, name an honest reporter from the mainstream media. They are all in the tank for Biden, and they’re all likely to ask questions that seek only to embarrass Trump, not to elicit actual policy positions that might help voters decide whom to vote for.

Anti-Trump DOJ Officials Prepare Attacks On His Appointees During Election Year
Mollie Hemingway, The Federalist
There's plenty to investigate in terms of the brokenness of Justice’s OIG, which boasts more than 500 special agents, auditors, inspectors, and attorneys — ostensibly to root out abuse and misconduct at the DOJ and FBI. The DOJ’s troubles are at least partly the result of an inspector general who has completely fallen down on the job of holding the agency accountable. Allowing political investigators who show very bad judgment to do political investigations in election years certainly does not do much to improve the reputation.

Missouri AG Claims Kansas City Doxxed Chiefs Kicker over Religious Views
Just the News (Misty Severi), The Star News Network
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey accused Kansas City on Thursday of doxxing one of its NFL players over religious comments he made at a college over the weekend, where he criticized President Joe Biden for being a pro-abortion Catholic. The city of Kansas City, which is primarily in Missouri, posted a since-deleted “reminder” that Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker lives in Lee Summit, but replaced it with an apology for the “error.” The city account did not include a physical address in the original post.

Trump demands drug test for ‘high as a kite’ Biden before debates
Alex Miller, Washington Times
Former President Donald Trump on Friday said President Biden should be tested for drugs ahead of their upcoming debates, renewing similar calls he made in 2020. Mr. Trump told a crowd at a GOP dinner in Minnesota that he wanted to test the president for substances following his State of the Union address in March. “I just want to debate this guy, but you know — and I’m gonna demand a drug test too, by the way,” the former president said. “I am. No, I really am. I don’t want him coming in like the State of the Union. He was high as a kite.”

A New Jersey Friend Is Sticking With Trump
Peggy Noonan, Wall Street Journal
At the Wildwood rally: Dee lives in an affluent suburban community with little crime, but “I have a lot of concern for my safety.” She locks the door when her husband puts out the garbage. At the rally, “there was no drugs, no people smoking weed, no violence.” Late in the afternoon Mr. Trump flew over the crowd in his plane. “It was spectacular. He flew low enough for you to see it close. Everyone freaked out.” She thinks he landed in Atlantic City. His motorcade arrived at the rally late. “When he came out everybody went crazy.”

The Biden Reelection Strategy
Victor Davis Hanson, American Greatness
Biden’s keepers do not seem to care about the president’s own failing health or his dismal polls. They discount his rare, anemic, and disastrous public appearances. They laugh off the huge Trump rallies. And they certainly could care less about the bad optics of pandering to special interests at the expense of the country or the damage done to the American legal and balloting systems. Instead, Bidenites believe they can reelect an unhealthy, unpopular, and unsuccessful president by any means necessary. And they may be right.
