The latest Red Chinese spy balloon incursions have left the Biden administrations sputtering for excuses as to why they haven’t shot down the balloons before they overfly our sovereign territory and sensitive military installations.
Four balloons have been reported by the New York Times and other establishment media: One was shot down on Friday over Alaska, another on Saturday over the Yukon Territory and a third over Michigan on Sunday. Those came after a Chinese spy balloon floated across the U.S. and was downed earlier this month.
And one of their answers – and we’re not kidding – is that they are not space aliens.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that the White House does not believe aliens are involved in the U.F.O.s being shot down by the U.S. military. “There is no indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity with these recent takedowns,” she said.
Good to know we are apparently safe from bloodthirsty extraterrestrials, and only threatened by the more mundane Communist Chinese.
Except the Biden administration has steadfastly refused to attribute the incursions to Red China. As Julian E. Barnes, Helene Cooper and Edward Wong on Sunday reported for the New York Times:
There are two big questions around the episodes: What were the craft? And why does the United States appear to be seeing more suddenly, and shooting down more?
There are no answers to the first question yet. American officials do not know what the objects were, much less their purpose or who sent them.
The absurdity of the New York Times leaving open the possibility that these balloons have an extraterrestrial origin is a new low in the establishment media shilling to cover for Joe Biden’s weakness on Red China. The New York Times and Biden administration may not know what the objects are, what their purpose might be or who sent them, but civilian internet sleuths have made real progress in identifying their origin:
A Pentagon spokesman said that the three objects shot down between Friday and Sunday over North America did not pose a danger to people on the ground, were not sending out communications signals, did not have people inside and did not have maneuvering or propulsion capabilities. He said they flew lower than the Chinese spy balloon shot that traversed the United States early this month, and they posed a risk to civilian air traffic, so the military and leaders in the United States and Canada decided to shoot them down. Their altitudes ranged from 20,0000 feet to 40,000 feet; transcontinental air traffic flies at about 30,000 feet, he said.
But here’s the scary part that no one seems to be talking about – it turns out these spy balloons have become news only because they became so obvious the Biden administration HAD to start looking for them and acknowledging them.
After the spy balloon floated over the continental United States for a week before an F-22 shot it down on Feb. 4, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, adjusted its radar system to make it more sensitive.
As a result, reported Michael D. Shear and Edward Wong of the New York Times, the number of objects it detected increased sharply. In other words, NORAD is picking up more incursions because it is now looking for them.
How many Red Chinese spy balloons crossed American airspace before NORAD started looking for them? No one seems to know for sure, other than to claim that reexamining data going back to the Trump years conveniently allowed Biden apologists to derail the narrative that Joe Biden was soft on Communist China.
John Kirby, the White House National Security Council spokesman, credited the Biden administration — and the president’s own instructions to the U.S. intelligence community — for discovering that “China has a high-altitude balloon program for intelligence collection that’s connected to the People’s Liberation Army.”
He added, according to reporting by Shear and Wong: “It was operating during the past administration, but they did not detect it. We detected it.”
“We have been more closely scrutinizing our airspace at these altitudes, including enhancing our radar, which may at least partly explain the increase in objects that we’ve detected over the past week,” Melissa Dalton, the assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense and hemispheric affairs, said at a news conference on Sunday evening.
The latest object had first been spotted on Saturday over Montana, initially sparking debate over whether it even existed. On Saturday, military officials detected a radar blip over Montana, which then disappeared, leading them to conclude it was an anomaly. Then a blip appeared Sunday over Montana, then Wisconsin and Michigan. Once military officials obtained visual confirmation, they ordered an F-16 to shoot it down over Lake Huron – meaning it was allowed to cross half of the continental United States before it was shot down.
So, what are the Red Chinese gaining by these incursions?
Well, for starters they are gaining a deeper understanding of our early warning radar capabilities, which don’t seem to be up to detecting a low-tech threat like a balloon.
Secondly, they have gained a much deeper understanding of our threat tolerance – which seems to be dangerously high, given that the balloons have been allowed to overfly vast stretches of the continental United States during which time they could have dispersed biological weapons, in addition to gathering intelligence.
Finally, the Red Chinese gain a psychological warfare advantage in keeping our early warning system operators and the American public in a state of high alert over the unknown threat the balloons pose.
The balloon incursion should be the perfect cause célèbre to rally American public opinion behind a campaign to get tough on the existential threat Red China poses to our sovereignty and way of life. So, why the reluctance on the part of the Biden administration to attribute the balloon campaign to Red China?
We wish we knew and could explain Biden’s soft-pedaling the balloon incursions to something other than Joe being compromised by the millions his son Hunter and brother Jim siphoned out of Communist China, but there really isn’t any other explanation that comes to mind.
