If the Supreme Court does indeed rule in favor of Fischer, the shrieks of outrage from the White House, congressional Democrats and the corporate media will be audible from coast to coast. Not only will 350 convicted “insurrectionists” have an opportunity to get their sentences reduced, Special Counsel Jack Smith will be forced to recalibrate his prosecution of the Bad Orange Man. Former President Donald Trump won’t be out of the woods, of course, but he will be able to claim a victory against the forces of darkness.

The federal government loses up to $521 billion a year to fraud, according to a first-of-its-kind estimate from a Congressional watchdog. The U.S. Government Accountability Office, which serves as the research arm of Congress, estimated annual fraud losses cost taxpayers between $233 billion and $521 billion annually, according to a new report published Tuesday. The fraud estimate’s range represents 3% to 7% of average federal obligations. “A government-wide approach is required to address these challenges,” the report concluded.

Voters are losing interest in November election, poll shows

More voters say they are losing interest in the November election, according to a new poll. An NBC News survey shows 64% of registered voters say they have a high level of interest in November’s election — but that figure is lower at this point in the year than any of the last four presidential cycles. Interest was 13 points higher in 2020, five points higher in 2016, three points higher in 2012 and 10 points higher in 2008. More Republicans, at 70%, say they have high interest in the election than Democrats at 65% and independents at 48%.

Nearly two years in the making, the Education Department’s final rule “builds on the legacy of Title IX” by extending protections to transgender students, meaning that the 52-year-old law hailed for advancing educational opportunities for women will include for the first time biological males who identify as female.
